President's Message

Dr. Jackie Nickson, President - DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Greetings,

On behalf of the 100+ dedicated women of the DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae Chapter (DCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, I welcome you to our official chapter website. It is an honor to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and even more, a privilege to serve as the 5th President of such an amazing chapter. I am indebted to our Charter Members and to my predecessors for their unwavering leadership. I am grateful to them for all that they have done for DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae and the many lessons each of them has instilled in me.

The DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae Chapter was chartered on April 5, 2014, by 35 dynamic members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It was their shared vision, enthusiasm, and desire to bring forth meaningful community service programming. Over the last 10 years, we remain faithful and committed to the ideals of our dear Sorority of Scholarship, Sisterhood, and Service as we continue to be upfront and center in the community.

Standing on the mission and vision of our illustrious Sorority, DCAC focuses on programs that address education, health, international development, and empowerment of the communities served. These programs align with the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

  1. Economic Development
  2. Educational Development
  3. International Awareness and Involvement
  4. Physical and Mental Health
  5. Political Awareness and Involvement

If you are a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and looking for a Chapter home, we invite you to consider DCAC. We are a diverse chapter with all generations represented and would be honored to have you join us. We also welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings held on the second Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

With a 2023-2025 biennium theme of  Empowering Our Sisterhood, Elevating Through Service,  in which Sorors are encouraged to focus on the guiding principles that define who we are as Delta women, we aim to reflect these principles in the DeSoto and Tate County area and beyond.

Please feel free to visit our website often for the latest updates on chapter projects, activities, and events. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

In the spirit of Sisterhood and Service,

Dr. Jackie Nickson, President
DeSoto County (MS) Alumnae Chapter
